Producer Overcomes Health Struggles and Unforeseen Challenges to Bring Bigfoot to the Screen
Medford, Oregon, October 30, 2023 – Today marks the triumphant conclusion of a 13-year journey as writer and producer Tom Monson releases “We Found Bigfoot.” In this compelling action-adventure docudrama, Monson takes audiences on an unforgettable quest into the world of Bigfoot, balancing mystery with humor.

One of the reasons it is a Remarkable Adventure Film, it follows a celebrated documentary filmmaker who journies to Oregon to document Bigfoot sightings, which will save an ancient Native American forest from clearcutting. With breathtaking cinematography showcasing Oregon’s stunning landscapes, the film combines moments of humor with a resounding message: the importance of seeing things through to the end.
Monson’s journey to complete the movie was nothing short of remarkable. After being diagnosed with a rare eye condition and undergoing surgery, Monson faced production delays but remained undeterred. When key members of the team left during shooting, Monson turned to long-time friend and filmmaker, Calvin Kennedy, to save the project.
It’s also a remarkable adventure film because, in the middle of production, financial challenges and a second battle with cancer almost brought the production to a halt. Monson’s tenacity and belief in the project were the reasons the movie found its way to release and distribution.
And, just when he thought it was done, the distribution company filed bankruptcy a month after the movie was released.
“We had it on multiple platforms and it was doing very well. It was flying off the shelf at WalMart and other DVD retailers,” Monson said. “It made a lot of money, but I didn’t see a dime.”
For the next five years, the rights to Monson’s movie were tied up in litigation. “When the courts finally gave me back the rights to the movie, no one could find the master,” Monson added.
After a six-month search for the master, Monson finally decided the only way to get this movie out there was to take all the original footage and re-edit it into a new movie.
“So for the last year and a half, I have been working with a team of editors to get it done. There were still some delays but we finally finished it. Then I had to go out and find another distributor to get it onto as many platforms as possible.” Monson concluded.
